Nottingham cracks down on shops selling ‘legal highs’

legal-highs-2Nottinghamshire police have teamed up with local trading standards officers to tackle shops across the city selling “legal highs”.

.

THC, in Alfreton Road, and Solar Eclipse, in Ilkeston Road were raided last week in hope for trading standards and Nottinghamshire Police to seize so-called “legal highs”.

PC Tom Andrews, beat manager at Canning Circus police station, planned the operation.

“By doing these two premises we’ll hopefully have a massive knock-on. If we can stop people buying stuff there, hopefully it will put them off.”

Nottinghamshire police force is the first in the country to use new anti-social behaviour legislation to issue shops with notices ordering them not to sell the product, which can be as dangerous as class-A drugs.
