More than 40 companies set up stalls and workshops to provide school leavers with advice about applying for jobs and to scout out new talent.

The event is part of the ‘Give Us A Chance’ campaign set up by New College Nottingham and the Nottingham Post to help young people across the county kick-start their careers.

The event organiser, Jade Whitmore, said that the campaign is a “great way of showing that young people are equipped with the skills needed in the work place and can be very valuable to businesses”.

The managing director of a new Nottingham business, Ucreate, Tamika Martin said that she is looking for “vibrant, enthusiastic individuals who have a strong interest in the music industry and media”.

She added that she is keen on employing young people because they can bring a “fresh energy” into the workforce.
