Designers are taking part in the city’s first independent fashion week, celebrating the talent of local fashion, textile and accessory designers.
This event is supported by The Creative Quarter company. The week long celebration of style kicked off on Tuesday evening at St Mary’s church in the Lace Market which played host to a catwalk show titled, The Fabric of Nottingham.
Dresses, scarves and pyjamas were just some of the things showcased at the event, which saw styles from more than a dozen Nottingham independent brands.
The work of more than 40 local people will be displayed throughout the week’s other events.
Sarah Mantin was at the show on Tuesday, displaying her intricate hair designs, some of which were worn by the models.
Susi Henson, the events organiser said “Nottingham local designers are unique to the city, giving it much of its appeal and identity. Hopefully Nottingham indie fashion week is the beginning of a new change with people identifying more with the city.”
