A new sports centre at the University of Nottingham is finally to be built. Plans were initially placed on hold because of three oak trees.
The University of Nottingham’s £40 million sports village has finally got confirmation, after the Nottingham City Council’s planning committee initially refused due to the loss of three historic oak trees.
The trees are said to be 150 years old and the University of Nottingham has been praised for being environmentally friendly.
With many trees already being cut down for the new extended tram tracks, the city council have been hesitant to allow the cutting down of further trees.
The new plans will now see that the Sports Centre will move nine metres behind the oak trees so that the trees can remain standing.
