Nottingham Trent graduate launches female football league

Katie, 22, of Queen’s Road, Nottingham graduated from NTU last year and was a member of Nottingham Trent’s women’s football team. However, since leaving university she has been unable to find an all female 5 a side football league to play in.

Having played the sport since she was 6-years-old, she did not want to give it up, so she used her initiative and is setting up her own all-female five a side football league at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre, which will launch at the end of this month.

“Over 20 people have now signed up to join the league and that is really encouraging. Women of all abilities will be welcomed to come and play, you don’t have to take it too seriously. I just want people to get stuck in, have a good kick about and enjoy themselves!”

Katie Gibson.
