Nottingham Forest loses manager and chief executive

Stuart-PearceDougie Freedman has stepped in as the new Nottingham Forest manager after the sacking of Stuart Pearce and chief executive Paul Faulkner has resigned.

Pearce-ForestGlasgow-born Freedman, who played for The Reds between 1998-2000 has previous experience of managing in the Championship after spells with Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers.

Forest fans across Nottingham have reacted to the news with disappointment; some  question if Pearce was ever the right man for the job, and some feel that the dismissal of the former left back will mean instability for the club.

In a statement posted on Nottingham Forest’s official website, club chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said of Pearce:

Stuart is someone I have always admired and that will never change. For that reason I have offered him an advisory role at the club, which I sincerely hope he accepts so we can all move forward together.

Despite this, reports suggest that Pearce has declined an offer to become Director of Football and will leave the club.
