Sixty-five per cent of people in East Midlands overweight

Internet imageThe East Midlands has been branded one of the ‘fattest’ areas in Britain. An NHS study shows the region as more overweight than anywhere else.

Nearly seventy thousand people in Nottingham alone, are classified as obese. This number comes from a recent study by the NHS which led up the holiday period.

With Christmas and the New Year festivities over, things which could have had an impact on people’s health, now resolutions to lose weight are at the forefront of a lot of people’s agendas. Anyone with a body mass index between 25-30 are classified as overweight.

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Cambridge believe that twenty minutes  of walking a day would most likely help prevent heart failure. This could in turn improve people’s lifestyles for the future.
