The town of Beeston is set to host its first annual film festival. Entries have been sent from across the world, as well as several local submissions.
One hundred and fifty film enthusiasts from Taiwan to Texas have submitted their films. A shortlist of 40 entries will be showcased at the White Lion Pub on Middle Street. The festival covers a range of film categories including drama, comedy and anime. One of the featured films includes the local story of Beestonia, by Matt Gould. This is based around the history of Beeston and took over a year to film.
Support from locals has flooded the town, as local shops and other businesses has been overwhelming, according to creative director John Hall. He claims that the positive reviews have “brought the community closer together.”
The festival will be from the 25th-26th of January, and will run from 1.30-10.00 on both days, and an award ceremony will be held for the winners on Sunday.
