Nottingham’s newest dual carriageway could be renamed to commemorate the 453 British soldiers killed in Afghanistan, as a lasting memorial from the County.
Nottingham City Council are considering renaming the A453, which runs from Nottingham to Leicestershire, as a tribute to soldiers killed in Afghanistan
The suggestion comes from the family of Warrant Officer Sean Upton from Beeston, who was killed in the conflict in 2009. The road number is the same as the number of British soldiers who have lost their lives.
Current suggestions are ‘Heroes Way’ and ‘Bastian Way’.
