Nottingham announced as Britain’s Cleanest City

CBJ Video Project RENAME.00_00_08_05.Still002Nottingham has been declared  Britain’s cleanest city after winning the Gold Standard Award at a ceremony in London.

Nottingham City Council was given the title by The Chartered Institute of Waste Management at the Clean Britain Awards after several improvements were made to how the council deals with issues such as fly tipping, graffiti and refuse collection.

CBJ Video Project RENAME.00_00_08_10.Still004Councillor Nicola Heaton, the Portfolio Holder for Community Services at the City Council said:”We are honoured to be recognised by the CIWM and win the Cleanest City Award.

“This award is the culmination of years of hard work by our dedicated staff, as well as our partners, to ensure we deliver the best service to the citizens of Nottingham.”

WordpressFactBoxTemplateThe application put forward by the Council showed that by making monthly checks on all of the wards ensured that they all met the yearly target set by the council at the start of the year.

Councillor Heaton went on to say that ‘the    council will continue to invest in their services  and ensure that Nottingham can retain the title of Britain’s cleanest city in the coming years.
