Emergency services were called out on Sunday to rescue a large cow from a canal in Kinoulton. Firefighters pulled the animal out after it had become stuck in mud.
Fire crews from High Fields and West Bridgford arrived at the incident, on Main Street, at 9.15 am.
It took around 20 minutes to pull the one-tonne cow to safety, after crews struggled to lure it out from the chilly water.
Firefighters eventually had to haul the animal out by borrowing a tractor from a nearby farm.
Despite the drama, the cow was said to have remained calm and proceeded to graze once back on land.
