Crowds gathered at Old Market Square at 11am today to observe the two minute silence for Armistice Day .
Young and old came to pay their respects to all the British service men and woman who have given their lives in wars and conflicts.
This year commemorates the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
The two minute silence outside the council building was attended by the Lord Mayor, Ian Malcolm and Sheriff of Nottingham, Jackie Morris.
Servicemen and women also attended and were collecting donations for the British Armed Forces.
