Grenade discovered in Sneinton garage

8576919099_3e982e33f9_zA controlled explosion has been carried out in Sneinton following the discovery of an active grenade in a garage near to residential properties.  

The garage was being cleaned out for new tenants by landlord Nottingham City Homes, when the grenade was discovered at 2pm on Wednesday, 29th October.

The grenade was then taken to scrubland near to Manvers Street and detonated by the police bomb disposal squad.

A police spokesperson said: “Nobody was at risk. The grenade was found to not have a pin in it, so to be on the safe side a controlled explosion was carried out.”
