Alternate HS2 hubsites to be considered outside of Nottinghamshire

HS2-picPlans for Nottinghamshire being home to the future East Midlands HS2 hub station are now looking unlikely, as developers and councils search elsewhere.

.
Ideas to build the station at Toton, which would have been linked to the new HS2 high speed rail line, have now been dashed.

An alternative station near Breaston, in Derbyshire, is being considered.

Sue Flack, Director of Planning and Transport at Nottingham City Council, said that she was disappointed at the change of plans.

But she believes it will still bring economical benefit to the entire region, wherever it is located.
