Nottinghamshire Police launch investigation into suspected firearms incident in Bestwood

PoliceA police investigation has been launched after a firearm is believed to have been discharged in a Nottingham neighbourhood.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called to Leybourne Drive at around 8.15pm on Wednesday, October 8 after reports of a firearm being discharged from a vehicle.

It is believed that a black Skoda Octavia had been pursued down the road by a green Seat Leon.

The police understand that the occupants of the green car may have discharged a firearm at the black car, no one is believed to have been injured.

Two men, aged 21 and 19-years-old have been arrested in connection with the incident. They have both been released on bail pending further investigation.

Detective Sergeant Mike Broddell said:

“We are keen for anyone with any information to come forward and share it with us. Did you see the two cars in Bestwood? Did you hear anything at this time? Please ring Police or Crimestoppers in confidence.

“We have increased our patrols in the area and we are carrying out all possible lines of enquiries to keep the community safe.”
