Road users across Nottingham are being advised to find alternative routes as improvement works begin on a busy city road on Sunday.
The works, which are set to begin on Sunday, October 19, will see improvements made to the road surface on Mansfield Road between the junctions of Woodborough Road and Shakespeare Street.
The work is set to last a week and will take place from 6pm till midnight on weekdays, and 9am till midnight on weekends.
An access only road closure will be put in place during the working hours, which will see drivers have limited access to Mansfield Road via Woodborough Road.
There will also be no access to the Mansfield Road and Woodborough Road junction via the approach from Bluecoat Street.
Despite the road closures that will be in place, council chiefs say that they have timed the essential works to coincide with the October half term to keep disruption to a minimum.
Councillor Jane Urquhart, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transport, said:
“The road improvements on Mansfield Road are of great importance to ensure that all our road users are safe.
“We would like to thank people for their continued patience while works continue on our roads.”
John Cowell, Highway Engineer, Highway & Energy Infrastructure at Nottingham City Council, added:
“While these works are underway we would advise all road users who use this road to consider alternative routes. We will do all we can to minimise disruption and apologise for any inconvenience the works may cause.”
