Residents of Clifton will soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief as constructors on tram works in the area say they are “close to completion.”
Constructors Taylor Woodrow Alstom have said works on the tram lines will be completed within the next few weeks.
Putting an end to what residents have described as months of travel chaos.
Many of those living and working in Clifton have been complaining because work on the tram line extension over ran by several weeks along Southchurch Drive and Bransdale Road.
One local resident, Wendy Dawson, described the works as “disgusting.”
She said: “I think it is a waste of total money and I will not be using the tram at all.”
Rachel Cataldo expressed her concern regarding children in the area and questioned whether the tram lines would be unsafe so near to local schools.
She said: “It’s not something really I would have chose, I think it’s going to cause chaos, I might be wrong but I’m not for it.”
However despite many in Clifton opposing the works, some think it could be a beneficial addition to the Nottingham area.
The owner of a Volkswagen specialist garage in the area, Robert Sherwin believes the extension will be a positive asset to the area despite the effects the works have had on his business.
Mr Sherwin, who has been working in Clifton for over 34 years, said: “I think it will work.
“It’s been a lot of inconvenience but we’ve still got a business to run, we’ve still got to keep on going and it has been rather difficult.”
