Nottingham boat race success for Trent students

Thumnail rowingNottingham Trent University’s boat club have excelled in this year’s ‘Head of the Trent’ boat race to claim three wins.


Last Sunday, a record-breaking number of teams from all over the country participated in Nottingham’s ‘Head of the Trent’ boat race, including members of Nottingham Trent University’s boat club.

Nottingham Trent entered more crews into the event than they have done over recent years and were rewarded for their hard work and effort with multiple wins.

Victoria Jones, President of Nottingham Trent University’s boat crew believes this is Trent’s most successful year.

Rowing 2Despite being so successful the event nearly didn’t take place after a lifeboat and other essential equipment were stolen last month during a break in.

But thanks to Nottingham Sea Cadets, the missing equipment was replaced so that the day could go ahead.

Lizzie Maddin, member of Nottingham Trent’s Boat Club, was a spectator at Sunday’s races and hopes to compete again next year.

Following Nottingham Trent’s success during this year’s boat race, no doubt they hope to continue building up the wins in the years to come. But for now they can relax and enjoy their achievements.
