Nottingham Forest fans were shown shouting racist chants during a game against Leicester City in the ‘Dispatches’ programme on Channel 4.
A Channel 4 programme has shown footage of Nottingham Forest fans shouting racist chants in a game against Leicester City.
An undercover reporter said the chants were audible to many stewards but they chose to ignore them. This is despite the police and Crown Prosecution Service backing the Football Association and promising to ‘tackle all forms of abuse in football, be it in the stands, or on our computer screens.’
When Nottingham Forest FC played Leicester City earlier this season, the undercover reporter witnessed racist and abusive chanting. Following the ‘Dispatches’ programme fans have insisted these incidents are exceptionally rare.
Ex-player, Marcus Hall told us during his brief time at Forest he never experienced any racism. “I did witness the programme and though I can’t say I experienced anything at that particular club, when taking throw-ins and things like that you can hear things from the stands.”
Marcus went on to explain that these remarks do not always come from just the fans and talked of his experience of racism from other players.
