Nottingham Playhouse has spoken out against a decision by Nottinghamshire County Council to cut its annual £95k in funding.
Nottingham Playhouse will lose £95k in funding from Nottinghamshire County Council. Last year the venue attracted almost 20,000 visitors. In the last 12 months, the Nottingham playhouse has welcomed more than 5,600 school-children from the county alongside over 12,000 concessions.
Nottinghamshire county council is making £154m cuts over the next three years as part of government austerity plans.
Giles Croft, artistic director at Nottingham Playhouse said it was a shame that the council had chosen to ignore the support of county residents.
