Finest Fish made its grand opening down at Hurts Yard today with a traditional fishmongers combined with a seafood café.

Thirty-year-old owner Lee Wharton, originally from Devon, said he is trying to bring as much of the South West’s fish to the city as possible.

He said: “We’re not here to take any trade from the Victoria Centre and we’re not here for any competition.”

The bistro, which used to be a club, supplies fish sandwiches through to full seafood meals along with tea and coffee.

Linda Avis, 52, had the honour of being the new venture’s first customer.

She said: “This place is like a little seaside restaurant in the middle of Nottinghamshire.

“The food is great and the service is fantastic.”

The restaurant is open from 10am – 6pm every day.
