More than eleven thousand letters have been sent to Nottingham residents telling them to clean up their gardens.
The City Council warn that if people don’t tidy up their garden waste, they could be taken to court.
Residents were also warned that they may be billed if their gardens are tidied for them.
Some of the notices warned about overgrown trees and shrubs which are a danger to public footpaths or roads.
Task forces are already out across Nottingham and have started cleaning up gardens in Lenton Abbey.
