Nottingham City Council plans to upgrade it’s CCTV cameras outside the train station after complaints that taxis are parking illegally.
The Council hopes to reduce the amount of taxis parking on double yellow lines on Station Street.
Taxi drivers claim that refurbishment of the train station has left them with insufficient space for waiting, creating an overcrowded taxi rank .
The council claims the congestion diverts traffic wardens from their other duties and they hope the cameras will solve the problem.
Notts Hackney Taxi Association says cab drivers are being ‘unfairly targeted’ as most of their businesses comes from station passengers.
