Stephenson College Nottingham has teamed up with celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford and opened a new hairdressing school in Maid Marian Way.
After receiving much demand from students wishing to do hairdressing, the college decided to open a new school. Trainees moved into the new refurbished Lee Stafford Academy in the beginning of January.
It is the second academy to be set up in the name of Lee Stafford, the first one was in Chelmsford.
The college wanted to raise the profile of hairdressing and having Lee Stafford involved seemed a natural decision. The students will be taught by Lee Stafford’s own staff as well as other tutors from the college.
Georgia Hunter a lecturer from the academy believes this will make the students a cut above the rest.
The eighteen trainees will receive their vocational qualifications at the end of the year and then they can move on to an NVQ, possibly including an apprenticeship.
Georgia Hunter says the course is proving to be very popular. They have already received inquiries for next academic year and information sessions that are held every month are always full.
Lee Stafford himself, will be visiting the academy on April 9th for the grand opening.
