Commuters in the East Midlands can expect to fly onto the train as stations across the region bring in contactless payment by the end of February.
Contactless payment is being introduced at stations across the South West and East Midlands Rail stations. Nottingham station is going to be one of the last stations that will adopt this new payment system at the end of February.
Rail stations such as Long Eaton have already started their trial and customers who travel short distances can buy a ticket of up to £20.
A spokesperson for East Midlands Rail said
“This is definitely a step towards helping reduce long queues during peak times”
Customer Service Manager at Nottingham Station, Jane Cheatle explained how process of converting to contactless payment is only in it’s early stages.
